Jug Water Pitcher

Bienvenue à UpStaged Vintage. This is a really attractive French vintage enamel jug pitcher, ideal to decorate a vintage style kitchen, bedroom or bathroom. It would look especially charming with a flower arrangement or perhaps in a sheltered spot in the garden. I keep one similar on my balcony for watering the pots. It has a charming aged enamel, with a few rust spots and chips, as you might expect from a well used and very old enamel item, but it is clean enough to use for flowers and has no actual holes so it holds water. These enamel pieces were essential items in most French country kitchen’s in the first half of the 20th Century, when many villagers still had to fetch water from the nearby well. Even if they had an inside tap, it was probably just in the kitchen so would still need a pitcher for transporting water to other parts of the home and garden. A delightful item which will look great on display, especially if you have a collections of other enamel items, and could be a great prop for a still life or period production. An ideal gift idea and a wonderful opportunity to have this adorable French jug in your home. Height – 38 cm / 14½ in. Base diameter – 19 cm / 7½ in. In VERY GOOD vintage condition but with some obvious signs of age, including several chips to the enamel and rust patches but no actual holes as yet, so it holds water.
